What is CFSS?

Community First and Services and Supports (CFSS) is a new self-directed option developed by the state of Minnesota, offering those who need home services more choice, control and flexibility with their services and supports required to live and work in their community. 

Accent Home Care provides under the CFSS agency model.

What program does CFSS replace?

CFSS is replacing Personal Care Assistance (PCA) and the state funded Consumer Support Grant (CSG) benefit.

What are some of the benefits of CFSS?

People who use CFSS  have more options and supports:

• Unlike PCA, in CFSS, a person’s spouse or the parent of a minor may serve as that person’s support worker.
• People may choose to purchase goods to aid in their independence.
• The state provides a budget that the provider agency or the person may use to train workers to support the person’s individual needs.
• The consultation services provider provides education and support in writing the person’s plan. 

What is the eligibility requirements for CFSS?

Eligibility requirements for CFSS are the same as PCA and CSG services with a few differences:

• Live in your own home
• Have the ability to direct their own care or have representation on their behalf
• Be on one of Minnesota’s health care programs
• Have received an eligibility assessment
